- A new outdoor dining set
- A window box under the kitchen window
- An outdoor bar cart
- Colorful accessories
Well, although we didn't quite finish everything we wanted to, I'm happy to say that we did complete everything on our must-have list! So let's see what we ended up with!!
You saw the Falster table we purchased from Ikea. I loved it when we first set it up, but now that's it's all dressed up, I love it even more!
That votive holder is also from Ikea. I purchase it probably about 6 or 7 years ago when I was in college. It was unfinished when I bought it, and I planned on painting it to match my dorm room but never did. It's just been sitting in a box all this time. I'm one of those people who doesn't like to get rid of things because everything can be repurposed! I'm getting better at parting with stuff I've had for years because now that I own my own home, I do not want to be a pack rat with clutter everywhere! Thankfully, I didn't part with this piece though, because it was perfect for our table with a coat of paint and some citronella votive candles.
The plates on the table are my Sophie Conran Carnivale set we received as wedding gifts. I love them so much! Those gorgeous napkins were gifted to me by Hen House Linens! If you are not familiar with Hen House Linens, check them out. They carry tons of high quality napkins, table cloths, oven mitts, etc. in really fun patterns and colors. Aren't these "Green Key Aqua" napkins perfect for my outdoor space?
The pillows around the table were created by yours truly! Be sure to check out the details of my very first sewing project!
I painted a ceramic pot and bought a mint plant because I love mojitos :) I bought some super cute outdoor wine glasses from Bed, Bath, & Beyond for $3.99! I think I want the rest of this dish set also! I found that mason jar drink dispenser and the galvanized tub under the table at Home Goods (man, I love that place). I replanted my succulents in a galvanized pot from Ikea. I'm working on a wooden sign to put on or above the table too!! So stay tuned :)
So what did our budget patio makeover end up costing us? Here's the breakdown...
Table and chairs from Ikea- $470
DIY pillows- $29
Table accessories- free
Window box- $31
Bar cart- $21
Bar cart accessories- $50
Windchime- free
Bird feeder- $5
Grand total: $585
Not bad right?? I thought for sure we would end up spending at least $1,000, but with a little bit of DIY effort, you can save a ton!!
Well folks, that's all for now! Be sure to check back over the next couple of weeks for a few more details on our new patio space and other outdoor updates!

Window Box
Our DIY window box proved to be a bit of a challenge to install, but we eventually figured it out! You can read part one of the tutorial for now, but be sure to check back soon as I post the rest of the details on the paint job and installation! I love the addition of flowers under the window! It makes it feel like the window is part of the decor and not just part of the actual building structure. The flowers sure are pretty :)
Outdoor Bar Cart
I can't tell you how excited I am about this bar cart!! We could have just bought one, but I couldn't find a grey one and wanted things to match somewhat, so we made it! Read the details to find out what surprising item it's made out of! It will be great for entertaining to have somewhere to serve drinks and snacks. What do you think?Outdoor Accessories
As far as the rest of the accessories go, I painted a birdfeeder and a windchime (which I will share next week).I painted a ceramic pot and bought a mint plant because I love mojitos :) I bought some super cute outdoor wine glasses from Bed, Bath, & Beyond for $3.99!
