Happy Wednesday! Welcome back! This week I'm sharing a DIY box to hold your wedding rings. We wanted something more creative than the traditional ring bearer pillows so I came up with this box! I wasn't quite sure how it would work out, but once I saw the pictures after the wedding, I was so glad I made it! What a cute way to take ring shots! As the bride, you don't get to see everyone's walk down the aisle, but I also LOVE the photo of the ring bearer handing off the box to the best man.
I purchased a small wooden chest from a local craft store. You can use any size box you like. The one I purchased is from Michaels.
We then painted the box inside and out with acrylic paint. We used Martha Stewart's Crackle Finish on the outside of the box to give it a more vintage feel.
To create the "pillow" on the inside of the box we covered some quilt batting with chiffon fabric and glued it to the bottom of the box. We sewed a ribbon into the middle and tied it into a box.
My sister created the monogram for the box by painting a small wooden plaque (they're super cheap in the wood crafting section of any craft store) and applying a faux-pearl letter embellishment purchased from Hobby Lobby. We debated whether to put it on the outside of the box or the inside and decided on the inside of the lid to add a little something extra.
This was a pretty easy project and turned out so cute! The best part is now that we're married I can remove the ring pillow and use the box for keepsakes and cards that Pete and I give each other over the years! :)
Super cute! I love seeing all your wedding crafts :)
