Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Mine was pretty busy but very productive! More on that later though :)
Thursday I finally had the opportunity to visit my sweet friend Christina! Her and her husband just made the same crazy life change that we made last year, getting married and buying a house around the same time. My hubs and I are still trying to catch up over a year later, so I know things have been busy for them too! Christina and her husband are all settled into their first home, but this summer has been so busy for both of us, I just got around to seeing it! I must say, it's super cute! It's in a charming, quiet neighborhood and has a nice big back yard where future little kiddos can play ;) Currently their pup, Roxy is enjoying every minute of it!
I was so excited to go visit Christina's new home because I love walking into a new place and daydreaming about all the little details. I just can't help myself! Following Christina on the tour through her home and hearing all of her ideas for future renovations, decor, and furniture projects was like music to my ears. Wanna make this girl happy? Start talking home and crafts, and you've got the keys to my heart! Not even kidding!
Christina has some fabulous ideas! She's also been dabbling in the world of blogging here and there! It's hard to keep the blogging momentum going when you are a busy new homeowner and newlywed (Trust me, I've been there!), but stop by and say hello! Send some love and encouragement to Christina and her husband on their new homeowning journey! You can visit them at The Little Love Nest! Is that not the cutest blog name?! Check out their brand new kitchen that her handy hubby built! I absolutely can't wait for her to post some more of their home projects!
Anyway, I made a little housewarming gift for Christina to congratulate her (better late than never!) on the new home! I don't have any step-by-step photos of this one because I worked on it late at night and it was near impossible to get a decent picture, but if you need some photos to help you create this, I used the techniques shown in my "Love lives here" canvas as well as my text transfer method.
Do it yourself:
1. Purchase an appropriate sized canvas. (I bought a 5x7 two-pack at Michaels. One extra for a future project!)
2. Paint the canvas with several coats of acrylic paint in the color of your choice. (I chose navy blue because I know it's one of Christina's favorites!)
3. Choose wording to go on your sign. Here's some ideas...
"Welcome to our home"
"Home sweet home"
"Love lives here"
"There's no place like home"
Last name with established date
House number and/or street name
4. Design your lettering using the fonts of your choice. Use the text transfer technique to add your pretty fonts to the canvas! (The fonts I used are "Antrokas" and "Ever After")
5. Trace your text with a paint pen in the color of your choice. You could also use a small paint brush.
6. Add laurel branches by making two parentheses shapes and adding leaves.
