Remember The Great Crate Challenge? Well, today, I'm teaming up with those same amazing bloggers to bring you another fun challenge! Pick Your Pumpkin! If you need a little fall craft inspiration, you're in for a treat! This time, we each purchased fake pumpkins from Michaels and transformed them into our own creations! I can't wait for you to see what everyone came up with!
I chose to turn my pumpkin into a fall treat jar! It's perfect as a cookie jar or a candy dish for all of that Halloween candy you're bound to collect!
I purchased the medium sized white pumpkin from Michaels.
I measured where I wanted to cut the top off to make a lid. I made little marks so that I could cut a straight line.
Then, I used a utility knife to cut the top of the pumpkin off.
It's hard to tell in the photo, but I gave it a coat of DecoArt's Chalky Finish paint in "primitive." It's a grey-beige color. My favorite! I chose to leave the stem alone since it is already painted pretty natural colors. You could absolutely paint your pumpkin whatever colors you want!
Next, I got to work on a label for my treat jar. I bought this little wooden oval shaped plaque from Michaels.
I painted it with Martha Stewart's chalkboard paint and used my text transfer method to write "fall treats" with a white paint pen. You could use chalk or a chalk marker if you want to be able to erase your text! The font I used was "antrokas," which has been a favorite of mine lately!
I baked these yummy salted caramel chocolate chip cookies which are perfect for fall! I put some tissue paper into the pumpkin to protect the cookies (the pumpkin is not food safe!). You may even want to wrap them in plastic wrap to keep them from getting stale. But hey, at least they'll look cute in their little pumpkin jar! :)
It's the perfect fall decor for the kitchen too!!
Check out the rest of the Pick Your Pumpkin projects below! :)
