How to make wood slice wall art- Monthly DIY Challenge

Hello, my lovely friends! I'm so excited for everything I have to share with you today! You remember The Great Crate Challenge and Pick Your Pumpkin? Well, today we are back with another challenge and we decided to officially make this a monthly challenge!
This month's challenge was wood slices. Each blogger could make anything they wanted out of any kind of wood slice. My favorite thing about these challenges is seeing all the different ways one object can be transformed. It's so awesome! I'm so excited for you to see what we all came up with!

Okay, ready to see my wood slice project? Here we go!
I know wood slice signs are old news these days, but I've been dying to make one for months and months! So, when we decided this would be our November challenge item, I was super excited to finally be able to make a sign! 

Materials:

• Wood slice
• Chalk paint
• Paint brush
• Pencil
• Printed text of your choice
• Black marker/pen with archival ink

How to DIY wood slice art:

I purchased my wood slice from Michaels! It's one of the "medium" sized rounds.

First I painted it with chalk paint. I used a small brush to paint around the edge following the wood grain, then I used a bigger brush to fill in the rest.  

Then, I used my easy text transfer method to complete this project! First print out your text in whatever font you like.

Then, shade the back of the printed text with a pencil. 

Flip it back over and trace the text with your pencil. This should leave a faint outline on your project. (It's kind of hard to see in this photo, but look closely and you will see the text!)

Next, trace your letters! I used a scrapbooking pen with archival ink to prevent fading.

Then, I free-handed some arrows to add a little more character to my sign.

This will be going on a gallery wall in the dining room sometime soon! I can't wait to share the rest of the art I have planned for that!
